Excellent Civil War Ear 32RF Sidehammer Revolver Allen & Wheelock 3 Inch Barrel

Serial #344, .32 Rim Fire (black powder), 3 inch octagon barrel with a bright, near excellent bore with only one isolated spot of roughness about mid way to the muzzle with very strong rifling.  This is a late second Model 32 Sidehammer revolver manufactured by Allen & Wheelock with plain cylinder.  Officially manufactured from 1859 to 1862 with total quantity estimated at over 1000 this example has the quick drop style grip and plain, non-rollmarked engraved cylinder.  A rugged and reliable Civil War era revolver that saw production suspended with the Rollin White lawsuit for patent infringement for bored through cylinders.  Available in three different barrel lengths of 3,4 or 5 inches.  This example remains in excellent antique condition with the barrel, frame and cylinder showing about about 30-35% of the original blue in protected areas with the balance a pewter gray having some light surface roughness on the left frame plate.  Likely had some added finish to darken the metal slightly.  The grips are numbered to the gun and remain in excellent condition.  The barrel and frame markings are very fine.   All numbered parts, except the cylinder pin are matching.  The action functions correctly with proper indexing holding at half and full cock and releasing with a crisp trigger pull.  A fine example of the short barrel 32 Sidehammer.  Antique
