Interesting Spanish Model 1854 "TRIFON" Pinfire Revolver (Serial No. 7) Civil War

Serial #7, 12mm Pinfire, 6 1/8" barrel with a fair, pitted bore.  This is a commercial version of the Lefaucheux type Model 1854 military revolver that has matching serial numbers on the right side of the barrel lug, cylinder face, and frame (on the inside of the grip frame).  The only other markings visible on the revolver is a partially legible "TRIFON" trade name on the top flat of the barrel lug.  All of the exposed metal has an overall mottled gray and plum-brown patina with freckling and areas of mild pitting scattered throughout.  Additionally, whorled tool marks are present along the exposed surfaces of the barrel, and the front sight is a later replacement.  The ejector rod is no longer present.  The smooth horn grips have an overall dark brown color, with minor drying cracks on either side, as well as some tiny chips missing from around the butt on the right panel.  The action is functional and locks firmly in both half and full-cock, while the cylinder advances surely.  Spain was the first country other than France to adopt the Lefaucheux system for its official military handgun in 1858.  Production took place at the Spanish arsenal in Trubia, and also contracted to the firm of Orbea Hermanos in Eibar.  This example is a commercial revolver, originally made to the government specifications, and was very well made.  It is in about good condition and would make a nice addition to a collection.  Antique
