Krag Bayonet Dated 1898 & Early Type Steel Scabbard

This is a Krag bayonet stamped US on the obverse of the Ricasso and dated 1898 on the reverse.  It measures 16 3/16 inches overall with an 11 11/16 inch fullered blade which remains armory bright with some carbon staining and dried grease, unsharpened.  The crossguard and pommel tone from bright to plum-brown.  The wood grips remain solid and near excellent condition with light surface use marks.   It comes in an early type steel scabbard which rates very fine showing much of the original finish with scattered freckling and use marks, the plain narrow belt hook and has the pinned hinge but does rotate all the way with pin missing.  A very fine to near example of an 1898 Krag bayonet.
