Civil War Remington New Model Army Revolver
Serial #66149, .44 Caliber, 8" octagon barrel with a good bore that has some minor freckling within the grooves. This is a handsome revolver that retains nearly all of a period added blue re-finish that has left the edges and markings sharp, with silvering along the high edges and projections, and some minor impact marks scattered about, most noticeably on the cylinder. A mild yellow-ochre patina is present on the trigger guard, and a replacement front sight blade is installed. The walnut grips are in good-very good shape with numerous handling marks present, and a crisp inspector cartouche is visible on the left side. The lock-up is solid, and the action functions flawlessly. This is a good-very good example of a desirable Civil War revolver, and would make a nice piece for display. Antique
