Civil War Maynard 2nd Model Cavalry Carbine (Model 1863)

Serial #12137, .50 Caliber, 20" barrel with an excellent, bright bore.  This is a handsome carbine that has 90-92% of the original blue remaining on the barrel with some mild fading at the muzzle and slight silvering along the edges of the octagonal breech.  Thin patches of plum-brown freckling are also present along parts of the barrel.  The frame and lever retains traces of muted original color case-hardening, with the balance turned to a mixed gray and plum-brown color.  The hammer retains some of the original blue finish, with speckled brown on the balance, while the sling bar and ring have some bright gray on the contact points with small impact marks and mild freckling throughout.  The walnut buttstock is in very good-fine condition with only minor handling marks and surface blemishes marring the original oil finish, and the cartouches on the left side are crisp and clear.  The barrel lock-up is tight and the mechanism functions flawlessly.  This is a great Civil War carbine in fine-near excellent condition.  Antique
