Early Four-Digit M1A National Match Rifle by Springfield Armory Inc. C&R

Serial #002364, 7.62mm NATO (.308 Win.), 22" barrel with an excellent, bright bore. This is a very early production rifle (Built in 1974) that uses a 1972-dated, Saco-Lowell "SAK" and "NM" stamped, National Match barrel. The op-rod is also "SAK" stamped, while the bolt is by Winchester ("66118-EE"). The trigger group is by H&R, with "SA" hammer and safety installed. The metal retains 95-97% of the armory parkerized finish, with some mild silvering along some of the high and projecting edges. Mild freckling and dried protective grease residue are present on some of the metal underneath the wood. The National Match rear sight has a Wilco Electric-marked elevation knob ("WCE"), and a "CPP" marked windage knob. The rifle has a glass-bedded GI walnut stock with DoD eagle cartouche and filled selector switch cut-out. The stock has the last four digits of the original M14 serial number written inside the barrel channel ("3989"), and the ventilated fiberglass handguard is in excellent condition. The wood is in excellent condition, with only some very minor handling marks and small blemishes marring the otherwise excellent military oil finish. The rifle comes with an original, "BRW / S-1"marked GI magazine by Borg-Warner. This is a splendid example of a very early production National Match M1A rifle, and would make a splendid addition to any collection. C&R
