Moore's Patent Firearms Single Action Belt Revolver 32 RF Civil War Antique

Serial #2722, .32 Rimfire, 5 inch barrel with a fine bore with very good rifling and overall roughness.  This is the Moore's Patent Firearms Company S.A. Belt Revolver also known as the “seven shooter” which incorporated a unique swing out cylinder and removable ejector rod.  Manufactured in Brooklyn, NY circa 1861-1863 it was a popular private purchase weapon for Union officers and enlisted men.  This near fine example is well marked on the barrel “D. MOORE PATENT SEPT 18, 1860” and shows beautiful scroll engraving on the frame with hints of the original silver plating over the exposed copper base.  The barrel and cylinder are pewter-gray with areas of fine pitting.  The walnut grips are solid showing old wear and slight contusions.  The action functions very well holding at half and full cock with proper indexing and crisp trigger.   The swing out action functions well locking in tightly.  The ejector rod fits well but looks to be a later replacement.  A very good to near fine example of these innovative personal purchase revolvers.  Antique
