Rare 44 Allen Lip Fire Cartridge Loaded Ammunition Allen & Wheelock

This is a single live round of .44 Allen Lip Fire ammunition manufactured by Allen & Wheelock company for the Army Lip Fire Revolver also manufactured by them.  The very scarce round was a brief stop on the evolution of metallic cartridges patented on September 25, 1860 and produced for a very shot time eventually being made obsolete with rim fire.   This example is in very fine condition showing age darkening.   A great round for display with your Allen Army revolver.
