Rare Experimental British 280 Enfield Ammunition Primed Cartridges 5 Pieces
This is a lot of 5 primed brass rounds of the very rare .280 Enfield experimental ammunition developed in the immediate post World War 2 era to fill a niche for an intermediate round. It was also known as the 7mm MK1Z, 7mm Nato, .280 Nato and 7mm FN Short. The brass comes from a shipment case that was sent to the attention of " Lt. Col. Kellett / A.D.T.S. (Land) / British Joint Services Mission / Washington. D.C." and large red letter title "EXPERIMENTAL FILLED STORES". The unused necked brass cases are head stamped "RG 51 280/30" and are in very good condition showing some isolated corrosion spots. Never adopted this cartridge is scarce and will make an interesting addition a variety of collections. THE BOX/BOX lid is shown for example and is not included.
