Antique Parker Bros 10 GA DH Dbl Hammerless Grade 2 Shotgun 1889 #3 Frame

Serial #58903, 10 Gauge (2 5/8 inch chamber for low pressure BP loads), 30 inch Damascus steel barrel with lightly pitted bores.  This is a Parker Brothers DH Grade 2 hammerless shotgun built in 1889 built on a #3 frame.  It featurs engraved game scenes on either side of the receiver with a pair of flying ducks on the left, a pair of walking Paririe chickens on the right and two pheasants on the underside.  In fine overall condition the barrels are free of dents showing and mostly pewter gray with some of the original brown finish showing a very nice thumbprint pattern Damascus steel and is sighted with a single front bead.  The rib is marked “PARKER BROS MAKERS MERIDEN CONN. DAMASCUS STEEL”.  The frame and trigger guard range from pewter gray to brown with much of the original detail showing trace amounts of the original case hardened colors under the lever and protected areas.  The stock and forearm are solid with much of the original checkering worn smooth.  The left cheek has a slight bruise in the center and a defined grain line extending to the wrist that is not a crack but worthy of note.  It has the original unengraved silver escutcheon, horn grip cap and the original Parker Brothers “Dogs Head” butt plate which is worn but retains much of the original detail.  The lock up is tight with lever resting in the center and the barrels are just slightly off face with a barely perceptible bit of movement.  The triggers have a crisp pull and the automatic safety works well.  A fine example of these extremely well made Antique Parker shotguns that would be a pleasure to shoot with the proper loads.    Antique
