J.C. Higgins Model 583.16 Bolt Action 12 Gauge Tube Mag Sears C&R

Serial #NSN, 12 Gauge (2 ¾ inch chamber), 28 inch barrel with a bright, excellent bore choked full.  This is the J.C. Higgins Model 583.16 bolt action shotgun sold through Sears.  In excellent condition the barrel and action show about 90-95% of a fading and slightly mottled blue finish.  The hardwood stock is excellent and sports the original J.C. Higgins marked rubber butt pad that has dried out.  The action functions smoothly and cycles shells properly.  A great example of these utilitarian shotguns.  FFL or C&R
