Thomas Turner “Encore Real Lamb Foot” Pocket Knife Mid 1800's

This is a Thomas Turner single blade curved Jack pattern pocket knife made in Sheffield, England circa 1805-1853.  It measures 3 ½” open with a 2 7/8” carbon steel drop point blade that has toned to pale gray with patches of oxidation and pitting with marks from being ground and sharpened. The obverse side of the blade is marked “ENCORE / REAL LAMB FOOT” white the obverse tang is marked “THOMAS / TURNER & Co. / SHEFFIELD” next to vertical Encore trademark and part of the “S” in Sheffield has been lost to grinding. The steel bolster and liners closely match the finish of the blade and jigged bone scales have darkened nicely through the years. The blade has good, tight “snap” and no wobble.
