Rare Antique Chinese Crossbow Tiller & Lock 300-100 BC

An extremely rare Chinese crossbow tiller and bronze lock mechanism dating from the late Warring States Period or early Han Dynasty (300-100 BC). The tiller is of a long pistol grip form with an integral triggerguard for the lock release bar. The forward end notched and pierced for the attachment of the bow that is now missing. The complete lock work is oxidized and frozen. The tiller is warped from being buried in water rich soil. This weapon is possibly unique in the United States.
