Civil War Era S&W No. 2 Old Army Revolver
Serial #12182, .32 RF, 6" octagon barrel with a good bore that has some patches of dark freckling and pitting near the breech. This is a very nice looking revolver that has matching assembly numbers ("23") on the frame, cylinder, and barrel, with the metal retaining 70-75% of the original bright blue finish, and the balance faded to a smooth plum-brown patina, mixing with dull gray on the left rear portion of the frame. There is a light turn-ring on the cylinder, and some color case-hardening remains on the hammer. The rosewood grips are period correct, but numbered to a different gun on the interior. The panels are in good-very good shape with minor handling marks marring the original varnish on both sides, and a linear mark at the leading edge of the left panel. The lock-up is very tight, with no lateral play in the barrel, and the action functions flawlessly. This is an extremely nice S&W No. 2, and is in very good-near fine condition overall. Antique
