Imperial German Unit Marked Model 1879 Reichsrevolver
Serial #6057, 10.6mm CF, 7 1/8" barrel with a fine, bright bore that has a tiny amount of freckling within the grooves. This is an all-matching revolver with "S&S V.C.S. C.G.H. / SUHL" (Spangenberg & Sauer – V.C. Schilling – C.G. Haenel) maker stamp on the left side of the frame. The metal retains about 70% of the original armory blue finish, with silvering and gray fading at the muzzle and on the high edges and projections. Small spots of plum-brown freckling are also scattered about, most noticeably in the cylinder flutes and on the buttcap. Traces of original fire blue remain on the safety lever, and cylinder pin retaining lever. The smooth walnut grips are in very good shape with minor handling marks and surface blemishes throughout. The buttcap has two unit marks: one has been struck out, "2.L.B.IX.22" (2nd Landwehr Regiment); and a clear marking, "1.M.I.45.24." (Munitions Column 1st Artillery). The action is fully functional and locks tightly. This is a very good-near fine Reichs Revolver, and would make a nice addition to a collection. Antique
