Beautiful British Turn-Off Folding Trigger Pistol by Wood of Worcester
NSN, .52 Caliber, 2" fluted barrel with a very good, lightly freckled bore. This is a handsome pistol that retains bright, original nitre-blue within the barrel flutes, and mottled pewter gray on the balance. The brass frame has delicate floral scroll engraving in the dark yellow-ochre metal, with "WOOD" in a riband on the left, as well as "WORCESTER" in a riband on the right. Traces of original color case-hardening are still present on the dolphin-engraved hammer, while both the action and sliding safety catch function flawlessly. The finely checkered bag-shaped handle has some mild wear and handling marks, with an octagonal escutcheon on the back, and a lion’s head cap on the butt. The barrel spanner is no longer present. This is a splendid little "muff pistol" and would make a wonderful addition to any collection. Antique
