British Martini-Henry P-1887 MkII Sword Bayonet & Scabbard Nepal
This is a British Martini-Henry Pattern 1887 MkII Sword Bayonet and steel mounted leather scabbard built by Wilkinson Sword in London which has Nepalese writing on the crosspiece and has the pommel stamped “NEP”. It measures 23 ¾ inches overall with a 18 3/8 inch fullered blade marked Crown /V.R. / 88 98 / Wilkinson / Sword Company / London. In very fine condition the blade shows areas of original armory bright with a mostly mottled carbon stained finish with impact marks along the spine. The grips are intact but worn. It comes in a non-matching numbered steel mounted leather scabbard. A fine example of these Nepalese British Martini Henry MkII sword bayonets.
