British Pattern 1888 Mk I 2nd Type Bayonet (1891) RSAF
This is a Lee/Metford Rifle, Pattern 1888 Bayonet. Made at the Royal Small Arms Factory dated February 1891, with Enfield proofs and War Department broad arrow stamps, many other acceptance and view marks on this bayonet. It is an early pattern design Mk I type II with brass close riveted handle with a clearance hole drilled through handle above the first brass rivet. The overall condition of this unsharpened bayonet is very good to excellent with speckled oxidation on the blade and on the ricasso. The excellent handle has a nice patina and no cracks. The plum-brown pommel is marked 644 and fully functional. OA 16.6" Blade 12". Fine example of a 130 year old British bayonet.
