Fine US Model 1884 Trapdoor Rifle by Springfield 45-70

Serial #459095, .45-70 Gov’t., 32 1/2" barrel with an excellent, bright bore.  The barrel has 90+% blue and now turning a little plum color.  The  Buffington rear sight, hammer, trigger, and guard retain most of the blue finish, while the breechblock has nearly all of a water-quenched color case-hardened finish remaining.  The lock has a smoothly mottled patina with some blue remaining, but no pitting or oxidation present.  The walnut stock has been lightly sanded and is nearly devoid of handling marks marring the reapplied oil finish, and there is a crisp "SWP / 1889" cartouche on the left side of the wrist.  A correct cleaning rod is included, and there are some areas of mild pinprick pitting on the sides of the barrel bands.  This is a fabulous looking Trapdoor, and is in fine-excellent condition.  Antique
