Original Colt 2nd Model Dragoon US Contract Bullet Mold
This is a handsome, tong style mold that has a mottled ochre patina throughout, "WAT" government inspector stamp (William A. Thornton), and a gray and plum-brown patina on the "COLT’S / PATENT" marked sprue cutter. There are small impact marks scattered throughout, heaviest on either side of the head, but both cavities are crisp and clean. This type is listed as M8 in "Colt Percussion Accoutrements 1834 – 1873" by Robin Rapley (1994); and is in good-very good condition overall.
