Portugese M1886 Kropatschek Rifle Bayonet Mfg by Steyr

This is a Model 1886 bayonet for the Portugese Kropatschek Rifle.  It measures 23.5 inches overall with an 18.5 inch blade with two deep fullers and a flat spine the is marked “Steyr 1886” with a bright finish showing spotty carbon staining and scattered surface pitting.  The ricasso bears the Steyr mark as does the cross piece. The grips are solid with light use marks.  It comes in an original steel scabbard marked “OE /WG” which are Steyr factory markings and is non-matching numbered on the throat.  The blade fits nicely in and is held firmly with smooth sheathing and retains much of the original finish with one small dent.  A very nice example of a scarce bayonet.
