Scarce Frankford Arsenal Benet Primed 50-55 Carbine Cartridge Indian Wars
This is a single collector round of .50-55 Benet Primed ball ammunition manufactured by the Frankford Arsenal for a very short time in the early 1870's. It was loaded with a reduced charge of powder, 55 grains, and a 430 grain bullet which was lighter than the standard 70 grains of powder and 450 grain bullet of the 50-70 load. Designed for use in the 1870 Trial Carbines which ended with the 1873 introduction of the .45 caliber guns.
