Scarce Short Barreled Queen Anne Pistol By Michael Strutt of London
NSN, .50 Caliber. 2 3/16" cannon barrel with a very good, lightly pitted bore. This is a handy little pocket-sized pistol marked "(L)ONDON" on the top of the frame, and "MICHL. STRUTT" on the underside below the pan. The metal has an overall plum-brown patina throughout with thin freckling and some areas of pinprick pitting, heaviest in and around the pan and breech area. The bulbous walnut grip has several large handling marks in the old added oil finish, mostly on the right side near the frame juncture. The spanner is no longer present, but the barrel turns-off easily while still seating firmly. The lock is fully functional, and the pistol rates very good overall. Michael Strutt was a London maker who operated from about 1727 – 1739. This is an unusually small Queen Anne pistol, and would make a wonderful addition to any collection. Antique
