US 2nd Model Allin Conversion Rifle With Bayonet
NSN, .50 CF, 36 1/2" barrel with a fine, bright bore that has a few traces of freckling within the grooves. This rifle was built on an 1864-dated musket and has a mottled gray patina with spots of plum-brown freckling along the barrel, breech-block, and traces of muted color case-hardening on the lockplate. The block locks firmly, and the action is fully functional. The walnut stock has a period, reapplied military oil finish over lightly sanded wood and minor numerous small handling marks and blemishes. The cartouche is visible, but no longer legible. Also included is a US Model 1855 socket bayonet that has a matching pewter gray patina, with spots of dark freckling throughout. This is a very good 2nd Model Allin Conversion overall, and would make a nice representative example for a collection. Antique
