Antique Swiss Model 1856/67 Milbank-Amsler Jaeger Rifle

Assembly #95, .41 Swiss RF, 34" barrel with an excellent, bright bore. This rifle has a "BEURET FRERES / LIEGE" marked lockplate, as well as "(Crown) / BF" stamps on most of the metal furniture. Additionally, the rifle has matching assembly numbers ("95") on the barrel, and breech components. The barrel retains about 80-85% of the original blue with silvering at the muzzle, as well as along the edges of the breech facets. There are some further areas of mild freckling and pinprick pitting along the top of the barrel near the rear band too. The breechblock, hammer, and lockplate have muted, but still visible color case-hardening present, and the spurred trigger guard still has some of the original bright blue finish remaining. The rifle has a short blade front sight, with the correct tangent rear target sight with finger-screw lock. The walnut stock has some minor handling marks and surface blemishes scattered about the original oil finish, with a crisp "(Crown) / BF" stamp opposite the lock. The rifle comes with a correct cylindrical head ramrod, and is a fine example of a rare Swiss breechloading military rifle. Antique
