Scarce Model of 1905 Leather Bayonet Scabbard 2nd Type

This is a second type bayonet scabbard, model of 1905 built between 1907 and 1911 for the U.S. 1905 type bayonet.  The leather covered wood scabbard has the brass eyelet drain hole at the rear tip with the metal throat and pivoting wire clasp hanger for use in cartridge belts.  In very fine condition the leather remains supple with numerous use marks, the stitching separated at the tip but otherwise excellent.  The metal throat and hanger retains much of the original blue finish with scattered freckling.  A scarce scabbard ready for your early 1905 bayonet.
