Very Fine Model 1816 “US” Marked Socket Bayonet
This is Model 1816 bayonet that is “US” marked on the face of the blade with mark of “6” near the elongated T-shaped mortise slot on the socket. Built for the Model 1816 and M1822 Muskets. It measures 19 inches overall with a 3 inch socket and a 16 ½ inch angular blade with a short single fuller and hollow-ground back flutes. It remains in fine to very fine overall condition with a mostly pewter gray / plum-brown finish with some light impact marks.
