WW1 British Colt New Service Revolver w/ Holster
Serial #76291, .455 Eley, 5 1/2 inch barrel with an excellent, bright bore. This is a 1915-built revolver that has retained 80-85% of the original, bright commercial blue finish with speckled gray present along the barrel, exterior of the cylinder, and some visible forging lines and cleaning marks on the sides of the frame. Profuse London proof marks are present, as well as a small and unobtrusive import stamp on the underside of the barrel (the revolver was sourced out of Canada). The hammer and trigger retain some of their original blue finish, with fairly bright gray on the sides. The checkered hard rubber Colt grips are in fine shape with some light flattening of the points, but no cracks or chips, and the original lanyard loop is still in place. The revolver is housed in a period brown leather private purchase officer’s holster that has a single widr belt loop with brass keeper for a Sam Browne shoulder strap. The leather is in fine condition save for some mild crazing and flaking on the closure tab, and some separation along the main seam. This is a fine example of a private purchase WW1 British revolver, and rates fine condition overall. FFL or C&R
