WW1 German Stick Grenade Model 1916 Carl Spaeter

This is and excellent German stick grenade or Stielhandgranate with grey painted metal body with attached belt hook. The excellent condition body retains about half of the original gray paint with the stencil "Vor Gebrauch Sprengkapsel einsetzen"(insert the detonator before use), still visible. Also retains the interior cardboard liner in excellent condition. Mounted to an excellent wooden handle, which is stamped, '5 1/2 Sek', 'Sp. 1.5.16', and maker 'Carl Spaeter' down the sides. Retains screwed fuze cap at end of handle, with ceramic toggle and twisted string pull still present in the handle hollow. This is one of the finest examples I have seen, please see photo's for fine detail.
