WWI British Webley Holster Identified
This is a private purchase Webley Holster in very good+ condition with supple leather and tight stitching, slight verdigris on the hardware. The holster has no marking except for the name H. W. D. This holster came to us with a hand written letter explaining that the hostler belonged to an officer that was killed in action in April 1916 and the gifter had more information on the officer. In further research it was found that officer is "Stone H W D 2nd Lt 4th Connaught Rangers Attd 2nd Royal Irish Rifles" Among other campaigns he served at the Boxer Rebellion in 1900.
