WWI British P 1907 First Model Sanderson Bayonet 1909

This is a British Pattern 1907 first model made by Sanderson Bros. in 12/09 and remarked and modified for duty in 1916. This bayonet most likely saw use in both World Wars. The 16 7/8" blade is in very good unsharpened condition with light oxidation and nearly unmarred edge and correct tip with a strong blued line. This crossguard would have had a quillion but was remove and is not symmetrical this was most likely done in 1916 as was the addition of the oil hole. The guard shows signs of normal wear and some oxidation. The handle scales are slightly mismatched in size with a deep rich patina with dings and scratches on both sides. The tang and screws have a good deal of scattered oxidation. Lastly ending in a functional rifle lug pommel with light oxidation. Comes with a correct W.J.H manufactured marked chape, No. 1 Mk II scabbard in good to very good condition with most of the finish on the leather worn away.
