Lovely British Iron Frame Turn-Off Pistol by Bolton of London
NSN, .50 Caliber, 1 5/8" fluted barrel with a very good, lightly pitted bore. This is a diminutive pistol that retains some of the original bright, nitre-blue within the barrel flutes, and a mottled gray patina along the raised edges. Some further tool marks are also visible along the barrel in spots as well. The engraved iron frame has a smooth plum-brown patina throughout, with the dolphin-engraved hammer retaining about 70-80% of the original bright nitre-blue finish. Finely detailed floral scrollwork engraving is present on both sides with "T. BOLTON / & Co." on the left, and "London" on the right. The action and sliding safety catch are fully functional, although the safety requires some effort to unlock. The finely checkered, bag-shaped grip has shrunk slightly where it meets the frame, and exhibits some minor wear throughout. The spanner is no longer present. This is a handsome little "muff pistol" and retains quite a lot of the original blue. Antique
