WWII German L & E Fireman Long Dress Bayonet
This is a WWII German L & E Fireman Long Dress Bayonet distributed by Linnenbrugger & Ellermann, Bielefeld and is a very desired distributor of fire bayonets among collectors. L&E was a distributor of Feuerwehr related ephemera that apparently did not sell military bayonets which makes the mark somewhat scarce. Following their line of work, they also incorporated a fire helmet and the NSDAP symbol into their logo, quite nice if you're a maker mark collector. The unsharpened 9 3/4" nicked blade is in excellent condition with little signs of use, no nicks and nice tip. The guard and pommel have heavy wear on the nickle finish. The scales are in excellent condition, no chips or cracks. The leather blade washer is still intact and pliable. This comes with original scabbard and frog. The steel scabbard retains most of the original black paint with light surface oxidation, no dent and light scratches. The frog is marked Linnenbrugger & Ellermann, Bielefeld, with tight stitching and some leather wear just above the frog stud opening. Together this is an excellent over-all example.
