British Escape Silk Map of Cairo, Alexandria & Tobruk Operation Musketeer

This is a silk map (H 58cm x W 66cm) showing Cairo and environs on one side and 'Alexandria-Tobruch' on the other. Silk escape map issued for Operation Musketeer, the British invasion of Suez in November 1956. The map is an Ordnance Survey 1952 edition revised and reproduced from the OS 1945 edition which in itself was reproduced from a Second World War map produced in November 1943. This map is in unissued excellent condition. Also included is a British military ‘Useful words and Phrases’ Sheet. Contains translations into Hebrew, Yiddish, German and Arabic of useful phrases to expedite rescue. These would have been issued as part of a survival kit. The sheet is also new and unissued.
