Chinese Han Dynasty Bronze Spearpoint

This spearpoint measures 6 15/16” overall, with a 4 3/4” angular, leaf-shaped blade, elongated towards the point. The blade has raised central ridges on either side, and beaded elements that are parallel at the the tip, but which flare outwards where they meet the socket at the base. The socket is tapered and measures just over 3/4” at the mouth. It has two directly opposed holes near the blade for attachment to a shaft, as well as a raised, integral grommet for added security. The bronze has developed a pleasant mottled brown and green patina over time, along with further spots of bright green oxidation scattered about, as well as ingrained dirt and soil where the metal has roughened through oxidation. This is a splendid relic of of the late, or “Eastern” Han Dynasty (25 A.D. - 220 A.D.), and would make a wonderful addition to a collection.
