Excellent Cattaraugus 225Q WWII Era Quartermaster Fighting Knife
This is Cattaraugus 225Q Quartermaster / fighting or combat commando knife manufactured by the Cattaraugus Cutlery Company in Little Valley, NY. Heavily produced during the war between 1942-45 this knife was also sold post war as a sporting knife. This example remains in excellent condition and is marked on the sheath with a soldiers name and number from Massachusetts. Likely a post-war purchase it has the gouged leather washer handles, done for extra positive grip, with a heavy 6 inch fullered blade that remains factory bright and very lightly sharpened marked “Cattaraugus / 225Q” on the ricasso. The sheath rates excellent and has an added brass throat with a flower or shell motif hammered into the center. An excellent example of these rugged knives.
