Revolutionary War Era Germanic Stag Hilt Hanger

This is a handsome and well-made 18th, or early 19th century hunting sword or hanger that measures 23 5/8" overall, with an 18" curved, single-edged blade having wide single fullers.  The blade has a mottled pewter gray patina with scattered spots of dark plum-brown freckling and pinprick pitting scattered throughout.  Faint remnants of etched or engraved designs are still just visible on the both sides of the blade forte.  The hilt has a thick iron counterguard with single forward-swept acorn finial, and a narrow knucklebow.  The grip ferrule has floral motif embellishments and a tombstone langet on which is engraved a portrait in profile.  The stag grip is in fine shape, with no chips or cracks, and has dark brown age toning throughout.  The mushroom shaped pommel has an engraved flower petal design around the crown, and an exposed capstan.  No scabbard is included.  This is a very nice short sword, and would make a fine addition to a collection.
