Scarce US Model 1830 West Point Cadet Musket (Reconversion to Flint)

Serial #10, about .59 Caliber, 36" barrel with a fair, lightly pitted bore. This is a handsome musket that has a mottled gray and plum-brown patina on the barrel (serial numbered "10" on the bayonet lug and breech), and bands. The barrel breech has even pitting, except around the rebuilt touch-hole, and is fairly bright gray there as well. The 1830-dated lock has a dark brown patina, with pewter gray on the cock and frizzen. The walnut stock has numerous small handling marks and blemishes scattered about the reapplied military oil finish, as well as some with-the-grain drying cracks at the butt on the left side. No sling swivels are present, but an original trumpet-head ramrod is included. Only 307 of these muskets were ever manufactured in two barrel lengths: 154 with 36" barrels; and 153 with 40" barrels. This example is number 10 of the 36" series, and is a very good-fine reconversion of a very rare US martial longarm. Antique
