Original Civil War M1859 Hi Port US Cavalry Bit
This is a Civil War period, Fairbanks St. Johnsbury Military Cavalry Horse Bridle Bit. The Bit is stamped on one side, "3 G.T.B" in a small oval cartouch. The other side is stamped, maker and town "Fairbanks St. Johnsbury V.T.". Brass “US” medallions riveted in place on either side of the bit. Complete with #2 high port, rings, and bottom cross bar. This example is in very good condition with some surface oxidation, great brass patina. Approx 8" long and 5 1/2" wide.
