Original WWII Japanese Type 89 HE "Knee Mortar" Round

This is an original WWII Deactivated HE round for a Japanese Type 89 "knee mortar", 5 3/4" tall x 2" diameter with a steel case, fuse Type 88, and copper ringed propellant cup at the base. The body of the projectile is in outstanding condition with vivid original red and yellow paint lines visible, slight oxidation on the surface, marked date 17.9 in white paint on the body which is 9/1942. The propellant base cap and body are stamped “1770” and has excellent original uniform finish. The fuse bears Japanese characters indicating the date of manufacture. A safety pin is fitted to the fuse assembly with original string. Spring in fuse is still functioning properly. This example is one of the finest I have seen in person, will make a great display and add to any collection. Please see pictures for details.
