Rare British Pattern 1843 Enrolled Pensioners or Extra Service Musket

NSN, .78 Caliber, 39" barrel with a good, lightly pitted bore.  This is a hefty musket that has the general lines of the Pattern 1839, but with a flintlock instead of percussion.  The barrel has a mottled gray-black patina with pinprick pitting along its length, heaviest towards the breech, and the "TOWER" marked lock with "VR" cypher has a lightly freckled, armory bright patina.  The pin-fastened walnut stock has a thick varnish added over numerous small handling marks and blemishes scattered throughout.  The Board of Ordnance "(Broad Arrow) / BO" stamp is still sharp on the right side of the buttstock, and the brass trigger guard and ramrod pipes have a mild yellow-ochre patina.  The lock is fully functional, and a period, but incorrect iron ramrod is included.  Interestingly, the barrel breech and inside of the lockplate are stamped with unusual Broad Arrow in circle stamps, reminiscent of Canadian property stamps used between WW1 until just after WW2.  Their significance is unknown, but the musket may well have remained in government stores for some reason, and was therefore property stamped as required by regulations.  In any event, this is an extremely rare British musket, in fine condition, and would make a splendid addition to any collection.  Antique
