WW2 Irish Air Raid Warden Mk. 2 Brodie Helmet with ARP Size Tag

This is a size 7 (Medium) helmet with 1939 dated liner.  The helmet has a non-magnetic brim and retains 75-80% of the original dark green painted finish with the balance flaked to the underlying plum-brown metal.  A large white, hand-painted "W" is present on the crown both fore and aft.  The interior lining is in excellent condition, and the elastic chinstrap is intact and fully serviceable.  An original Air Raid Precautions (ARP) size tag ("M") is still present on the chinstrap.  Despite their neutrality during WW2, the Republic of Ireland was bombed several times by the Luftwaffe in 1940 – 1941 (presumably due to navigational error while on missions to attack Belfast during the Blitz).  As a result, they did procure some ARP helmets for home use.  This example of a rare Irish Air Raid Warden’s helmet is in very good condition with a seldom seen original tag, and would make a splendid addition to any collection.
