WW2 British General Post Office Air Raid Brodie Helmet
This is a typical WW2 era Brodie pattern helmet that has a dull gray painted finish with white "GPO" on the front of the crown (General Post Office). The metal retains 80-85% of the original paint, with minor flaking along the edge of the brim, as well as around the suspension web screw at the top of the crown. The rubberized cloth suspension web is cracked along the flex points, but is otherwise still in very good condition, and the original elastic chinstrap is still flexible and pliable. The brim of the helmet is stamped with three holes in a triangular pattern denoting that it was stamped from mild steel, and therefore unfit for combat use. These helmets are fairly uncommon, at least in the US, and this example is in very good condition overall.
