Excellent WWI US Army Model 1917 Smith & Wesson 45 Hand Ejector Built 1918

Serial #108558, .45 ACP or .45 Auto Rim, 5.5 inch barrel with a bright, excellent bore.  This is the Smith & Wesson U.S. Army Model 1917, 45 Hand Ejector revolver built between 1917 and 1919 with some 163,600 made.  This very well marked example has the “United States Property” on the underside of the barrel with the ordinance flaming bomb on the upper left frame in front of the hammer and “S&W D.A. 45” on the right side of the barrel along with all the appropriate  inspector Eagle over “S2” proof marks.  In excellent condition the barrel, frame and cylinder retain about 96-98% of the original blue finish with some very light use and holster marks on the barrel, frame and the high edges of the cylinder which shows a very fine drag line.  The trigger and hammer show the original vibrant case-hardened colors.  The smooth walnut grips rate excellent showing some very mild use marks and are correctly pencil numbered to the gun on the inside right panel.  It has the original lanyard loop.  An excellent, very high condition example of the Model 1917.  FFL or C&R
