WWII Early Front-Seam Fixed Bale M1 Helmet with Liner

This is a very nice example of an original WWII Front-Seam Fixed Bale M1 Helmet made by McCord Radiator, with a Mine Safety Appliance liner. This helmet is early war 1942-43 made. This is a correct McCord front seam, steel production number 259C with "D SH 800040" painted around the inside with the name Wilson, the crown has quite a dent and one of the bails has broken off, one OD strap with brass hardware correct chin strap with a light presence of oxidation on the surface interior. This MSA liner was Manufactured in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania this "high pressure" M-1 helmet liner is identified by an embossed "MSA" in the crown.  Mine Safety Appliance started M-1 helmet liner delivery to the US Army in September 1942. They produced approximately between 2 - 4 million M-1 helmet liners and discontinued production around August 17, 1945 when the war ended. This liner has a near complete suspension system in good condition with some oxidation on the metal parts and dried leather and one part of the band ripped. The outside of the helmet is covered with a two tone camouflage wrap "DSA No. 10070 C 0822" contract date of 1970. This helmet may have had a very long service life if the helmet cover was issued to this helmet.
